Getting Started
1+
Getting StartedWhat is the Practice Field Guide?
+
The Practice Field Guide is the operating manual for GradPlanHQ.
It explains the Growth Cycle, the three goals, the nine repeating processes, Action & Momentum Meetups, the Community App, and Project Launchers.
Whether you become a member or not, it is the fastest way to understand how the system works and how to start your first Growth Cycle.
Membership
9+
MembershipIs the Founding 100 Beta Cohort free?
+
Yes. Founding Beta Members receive access to the GradPlanHQ community during the beta period at no cost. GradPlanHQ expects to introduce paid membership after the beta period. Founding Beta Members will receive advance notice about future membership options, launch timing, and any available sponsor-supported or discounted access opportunities.
MembershipWhy the name GradPlanHQ?
+
It's the place to plan and execute your strategy to graduate with real experience and a visible personal brand. The plan isn't a degree checklist. It's a strategy for building experience, evidence, visibility, and relationships before graduation.
MembershipWhat does membership actually get me?
+
Action & Momentum Meetups, projects you can jump into, LinkedIn and resume help, the Community App, and a clear plan for building experience and connections.
MembershipIs there a free way to try it first?
+
Yes. Start with the free Practice Field Guide, take the two-minute quiz, or try one of the free tools. No email or membership is required. You can also book an intro session if you want help deciding where to start.
MembershipDo I need to cancel beta access?
+
No payment is collected during the Founding 100 beta, so there is no paid plan to cancel. You can stop participating at any time. If GradPlanHQ introduces paid membership after beta, you'll receive the pricing and terms before deciding whether to continue.
MembershipDo I need to be a certain year or major?
+
No. Any student can join — any major, any year, high school through early career.
MembershipDo you issue the HarvardX leadership credential?
+
No. GradPlanHQ does not issue, guarantee, or qualify anyone for a Harvard credential. We help you prepare a project or leadership experience you can use in your own HarvardX coursework. Participation in the Harvard course, free audit, and any verified certificate are handled directly by HarvardX and edX. Audit options are free where available; verified certificates are paid through HarvardX if you choose that option.
MembershipI'm overwhelmed. Where should I start?
+
Start with your goal. The intro session helps you identify what already exists, what still needs to be developed, and the best next step to move forward.
MembershipWhat if I only have a little time?
+
That's fine. GradPlanHQ is designed to scale with the time you realistically have available.
Some members spend only a few hours a month exploring opportunities, building relationships, or working through a Project Launcher. Others invest several hours a week during an internship search, job search, leadership project, or career transition.
When you build your plan, you'll identify how much time you can realistically commit and choose goals that fit. The goal isn't to stay busy. The goal is to make steady progress with the time you have.
A freshman who invests a small amount of time consistently over several years often builds more experience, evidence, relationships, and visibility than someone who waits until senior year to start.
Meetups & Community
9+
Meetups & CommunityHow often are the meetups and how long are they?
+
Each meetup is a one-hour virtual working session. The same sessions repeat on different days and times, including evenings, so you can pick what fits. Every session focuses on one project launcher or one brand-building task, with the resources posted ahead of time. Most tasks take a few sessions, so you pick what you're working on this semester and keep coming back.
Meetups & CommunityI'm a procrastinator. How does this keep me moving?
+
The calendar gives you a next step and a time to do it. You don't have to figure out what to work on. Pick the session that matches your goal, RSVP, and show up. Repeating sessions and office hours keep nudging you, even in a busy week.
Meetups & CommunityWhy is each meetup focused on just one thing?
+
So you know what you're there for and the hour actually goes somewhere. No vague career advice. Most of these tasks take more than one sitting. After ice breakers, a quick resource walk-through, and Q&A, you get protected work time. Then you come back to the same task until it's done.
Meetups & CommunityWhat happens if I miss one?
+
No big deal. The same sessions repeat, and the templates and discussion stay in the app. Showing up regularly matters more than never missing one.
Meetups & CommunityWhat if I can't make the live time?
+
Evening sessions and multiple time slots cover most schedules. The resources land in the library, and the launcher group keeps going, so you can post your work and get feedback on your own time.
Meetups & CommunityDo I have to turn my camera on or talk?
+
No. Join in however you're comfortable.
Meetups & CommunityWho else is in the room?
+
Students from different majors, schools, and career interests, all working on the same step, plus occasional community supporters, mentors, and project partners.
Meetups & CommunityI hate networking. Is this still for me?
+
Probably. Networking here is built into the project work and the breakout ice breaker, not forced introductions. The goal is to leave every session with at least one new LinkedIn connection. Small wins add up.
Meetups & CommunityCan any student join the meetups?
+
Yes. You don't need an internship, a perfect GPA, or a polished LinkedIn profile. You just have to show up and work on one step at a time.
Experience & Projects
4+
Experience & ProjectsDo I have to find my own project?
+
No. Join a GradPlanHQ project, team up with other members, bring your own idea, or turn something you've already done into a real project.
Experience & ProjectsWhat if I don't get an internship?
+
An internship is one way to build experience, not the only one. Projects, volunteer work, credentials, leadership, and networking all give you proof.
Experience & ProjectsCan class projects count as experience?
+
Yes. Plenty of class projects provide the proof for leadership, teamwork, and communication. We help you move that evidence into your Application Packet.
Experience & ProjectsWill this help me build my resume?
+
Yes. We help you turn projects, volunteer work, leadership, and credentials into resume lines you can actually defend.
Growth Cycle
6+
Growth CycleWhat is the Growth Cycle?
+
The Growth Cycle is a four-step process: Connect your goals to a strategy. Build meaningful experiences. Turn experience into evidence and visibility. Repeat and compound your advantage. Each cycle adds experience, evidence, visibility, and relationships that strengthen career momentum over time.
Growth CycleHow does the Growth Cycle help me over time?
+
Same loop, every semester. Small wins stack up into real experience, better connections, and more options.
Growth CycleWhy does this focus on both describing my work and building references?
+
They're two halves of the same thing. Words with nobody behind them are just a claim. A person with no story is a reference nobody calls. Real experience gets you both.
Growth CycleWill this help me on LinkedIn?
+
Yes. We'll help you show your projects, credentials, and wins in a way that makes the profile worth finding.
Growth CycleWhat if networking feels awkward or I don't know how to ask for a reference?
+
That's what the meetups and the app are for. You practice introducing yourself, talking about your work, and asking for help in a low-stakes room of students doing the same thing. Small wins add up.
Growth CycleWhat do you mean by evidence?
+
Evidence is something another person can understand and use: a finished deliverable, a measurable result, a STAR story, a work sample, or a reference from someone who saw you do the work. It shows not only that you participated, but what you did, what changed, and what the experience demonstrates about you.
